More new jobs created under Labor
An extra 47,500 jobs have been created in the last month, with the Albanese Government continuing to oversee the largest increase in employment in a single parliamentary term in Australia’s history.
Under the Albanese Government, more Australians are working, earning more and keeping more of what they earn.
Today’s ABS Labour Force figures show that close to one million jobs have been created since the Albanese Government came to office, with 593,500 full-time jobs comprising more than 60 per cent of all job growth over the period.
This is a solid achievement in the context of a slowing economy and softer labour market.
It’s a tribute to Australian workers and employers, and it justifies the responsible way we’re managing the economy.
We welcome the continued improvements for women in the workforce, who have filled a majority (50.4 per cent) of total and full-time (55.6 per cent) jobs created this term.
Female labour force participation is now at an equal record high and the gender pay gap is at its all-time low, of 11.5 per cent. An extra 493,020 women are now in the workforce under this Government.
Helping Australians find work and delivering higher wages is one of the best ways we can support Australians with current cost of living pressures.
That’s exactly what the Albanese Government is doing in contrast to Peter Dutton and the Coalition, who have promised to cut workplace rights if they’re elected.
The Albanese Government is also making working conditions safer and more secure for all Australian workers, by shutting down loopholes that shonky businesses have been exploiting for years.
Our laws have introduced new rights for workers - the right to disconnect, stronger protections for gig workers and new rights for casual workers.
We’re seeing the highest number of employees covered by newly approved enterprise agreements in over a decade.
Labor’s emphasis on cooperation over conflict has also seen industrial action plummet, compared to the Coalition.
At the same time, the number of days lost to industrial action has plummeted.
Since 2022, the Albanese Government has backed three Annual Wage Review decisions, earning 2.6 million minimum wage earners an extra $143 per week, while the former Coalition Government failed to back a single review in 10 years.
We know people are under pressure which is why we’re delivering responsible and meaningful cost of living relief to make things a bit easier.
The average full-time worker is now earning $159 extra per week since the Government was elected. And the average full-time worker is also receiving a tax cut of $44 per week because of the Government’s cost of living tax cuts.
We’re standing alongside workers, to deliver the better pay, more secure work and safe workplaces that all Australians deserve.
