More support to help Australians into secure work

The Albanese Labor Government is again helping Australians get secure jobs and respond to local workforce needs. 

A total of 49 organisations to deliver Local Jobs, Local People projects that will better connect job seekers with employers, training and tailored assistance. 

The projects will be aligned to the workforce needs of each region, helping jobseekers move into work while supporting local employers.

$10 million in grants are being delivered as part of the extension of the Local Jobs Program to 30 June 2027.

Activities will relate to Local Jobs Plans in each Employment Region and focus on building skills and clear pathways into work. This includes where there are workforce shortages and in priority growth sectors such as manufacturing, care and support, digital and emerging technologies and the energy transition.

The Local Jobs Local People grants, which have been extended to 30 June 2027, will support people who experience barriers to employment, including: 

  • mature-aged Australians (over 45)
  • young people up to 24 years of age
  • those needing additional help to connect with work or increase their hours.
  • First Nations peoples

The support activities will be focused on job-ready training, industry-specific skills development, employer-led placements and wrap-around support.
