Latest data confirms more Australians are working than ever before
New data from the ABS Labour Force Survey shows that more Australians are in work than ever before.
Employment increased by 14,900 in September, to a record high of 14,640,200 with the labour force participation rate also increasing to 67.0 per cent in September.
Despite the unemployment rate rising to 4.5 per cent in September, our labour market remains resilient with the unemployment rate below the pre-COVID rate of 5.2 per cent.
Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations Amanda Rishworth said despite today’s figures showing a softening, our labour market is in a strong position.
“In the face of heightened global uncertainty, the Australian labour market remains resilient.
“Since our Government has come into office we have created more than 1.1 million jobs, with a higher rate of employment growth than any other major advanced economy.
“Our Government remains committed to building a productive and dynamic workforce to ensure Australia is well placed to withstand the global challenges that lie ahead,” Minister Rishworth said.
