Australia's job market remains resilient amid global uncertainty

Australia's labour market remains resilient with employment rising to a record high.

The latest figures show a record number of Australians are in work and participation is close to its highest rate on record.

Almost 40,000 more jobs were added in the month of August.

The unemployment rate rose to 4.6 per cent in August but remains low by historical standards.

It's not surprising to see it tick up slightly in the context of global uncertainty.

Under the Albanese Government, we've seen the lowest average unemployment rate of any government in the last 50 years, alongside the creation of more than 1.3 million jobs.

Since May 2022, we have had stronger jobs growth and higher participation than every G7 economy.

Women's participation is close to its record high, and a record number of women are in work. That's good for families, communities and the economy.
