2022 Australian Training Awards Finalists

Ministers:

The Hon Brendan O'Connor MP
Minister for Skills and Training

The skills sector’s most talented people will be recognised at the 2022 Australian Training Awards, with 75 finalists announced today.

Minister for Skills and Training, the Hon Brendan O’Connor MP, said the annual awards are an opportunity for the community to celebrate the skills, commitment and professionalism of the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

“The awards focus not only on the students, trainees and apprentices, but all those people and organisations such as schools, training organisations and employers, who work hard to provide their support and expertise,” Minister O’Connor said.

“These awards continue to bring us inspiring stories from across the nation, with finalists selected by states and territories to compete for a national title.

“The VET sector will be key to solving the nation’s skills shortage. These awards are a timely reminder to the whole country about just what is possible if we focus on quality training and skills development.”

The winners, including those from five direct entry categories recognising national achievement, will be announced in a gala event at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday 18 November.

“The Australian Government’s goal, outlined at the Jobs and Skills Summit, is to build a bigger, better trained, and more productive workforce,” Minister O’Connor said.

“This will help to deliver secure jobs with growing wages, boost incomes and living standards and create more opportunities for more Australians.

“The VET sector is central to training and skilling Australia’s workforce, now and for the future.

“These awards showcase the best, from electrotechnology and carpentry to business studies and community services.

“I congratulate all the finalists for the contribution they are making to the pursuit of excellence in technical and skills education.

“I look forward to meeting and offering my personal congratulations to the winners and finalists in person in Adelaide next month.”
