That’s the sound of millions of text messages ringing out across the country and billions of dollars in debt coming off the backs of young Australians.

In the last 36 hours more than a million people have received this message:

We’ve applied the Government’s 20% reduction to your student debt. View your balance on the ATO app or online services.

Visit ato.gov.au and search ‘QC 44857’.

And tomorrow morning the ATO will process the Albanese Government’s 20 per cent student debt cut for another 1.5 million Australians. Those messages will go out next week.
